Description of Ubuntu 8.04 Linux Bible |
Multiple new versions of Ubuntu Linux have been released since I wrote the first edition of this book. Each of these has new features and capabilities. In addition, some of the information presented in the Ubuntu Bible is no longer correct due to changes in the Ubuntu Live CD and Ubuntu distribution. Competing titles have already been revised, but I wanted to wait for a long-term release of Ubuntu to do an update, which is scheduled for release at the end of April, 2008. I have also received significant feedback from readers in the form of information that they would have liked to see in this book, which I would therefore like to add. This especially includes information about Kubuntu, which is a version of Ubuntu that uses a different graphical user interface than the standard version of Ubuntu. We can continue to provide the standard bootable Desktop Ubuntu CD, but it would be really nice to also include a bootable Kubuntu Desktop CD.
