Description of Advanced IT in Finance

This book aims to provide an overview of banking and IT issues - to look at the overall pressures and business factors in banking and see how this affects the demand for IT systems, the formulation of IT strategy, and the development of IT hardware, software, and product development strategies.
Banking and IT are wide and all encompassing fields. Many of them mentioned are worthy of specialised books on their own. This book therefore does not purport to be an authority on these matters. Rather, it tries to identify key areas in banking and IT, and provide debate for the banker wanting to become aware of IT issues, and for the IT specialist who is not fully familiar with the workings and pressures affecting the typical bank.
Therefore, the treatment given to these various subjects is made from the viewpoint of identifying and analysing salient characteristics, as opposed to being a technical reference source on the matter. The content of the book reflects the professional experience of the author, therefore seen from one vantage point.
